Jonathan Beezley joined Kitware in February, 2014, as an R&D Engineer in the Scientific Computing team. Jonathan received a B.S. in Physics from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 2001. In 2004, he began graduate work at the University of Colorado at Denver.  As a graduate student, he worked as a research assistant in the mathematics department studying ensemble data assimilation methods and wildfire modeling.  He received a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics in 2009 with a dissertation titled “High-Dimensional Data Assimilation and Morphing Ensemble Kalman Filters with Applications in Wildfire Modeling.”

After graduate school, Jonathan worked as an Assistant Research Professor in the Mathematics department of the University of Colorado at Denver.  In this position, he assisted in the development of a new wildfire model. He specialized in data preprocessing, visualization, and software infrastructure.  In 2012, Jonathan moved to Toulouse, France, for a year. In France, he worked as a Post-Doc at CERFACS and Météo-France studying covariance modeling of deformed stationary fields.
