
Nikhil Shetty originally joined Kitware as an intern in May 2009 where he worked on ParaView under the supervision of Dr. Berk Geveci. He returned to Kitware in May 2010 as a member of the Scientific Computing Group. Nikhil has a wealth of experience in Virtual Reality and Visualization. He has written a VRJuggler client to ParaView to enable visualization of scientific data in Cave's, Tiled Walls and other VR environments. He has also contributed to the ParaView and Titan projects. His primary areas of research interest are Multi-Agent Distributed systems, Virtual Reality, Soft Computing and Machine Learning.
Nikhil received his Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and IT from from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in India. In the past he has worked in Linux based embedded systems which included writing kernel modules and network security software.
Nikhil is a PhD candidate from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he completed his MS in Computer Science. His master's work focused on soft computing, machine learning and cognitive science. His research goal is to develop an agent based adaptive/distributed/ubiquitous systems framework for HPC in scientific computing and visualization. Dr. Cruz-Neira and Dr. Reiners are his PhD advisors.
