Jérôme Velut is an R&D Engineer at Kitware's European subsidiary in Lyon, France. Jérôme completed a post doctoral fellowship in medical imaging at the University of Rennes (France) after receiving his PhD in information processing from the National Institute for Applied Sciences (INSA) in Lyon.
Since joining Kitware in Lyon, Jérôme has been involved in several projects in the field of Image Processing and Visualization.
His research has been focused on deformable model segmentation. His doctoral thesis combined signal processing, geometry and topology in order to develop a fast and robust image segmentation method. After his PhD he was involved in the "euHeart" European project which aims to develop better visualization and model of the heart. Jérôme has continued to improve his expertise in medical imaging while working on research related to the acquisition of MRI coronary arteries, their characterizations as well as the engineering behind it. Jérôme has also been contributing to VTK and ParaView and published several of his algorithms on Kitware's VTK Journal.
