Kitware wins SBIR Phase II award from NSF for higher-order finite element visualization.
Kitware, Inc. has won a Small Business Innovation Research Phase II
project to address the lack of visualization technology for advanced
engineering simulation tools. Such tools routinely depend on
interpolation and approximation (basis) functions for a variety of
purposes, including modeling geometry via CAD/CAM tools, or for
computational techniques such as the finite element method. What
distinguishes advanced tools from earlier, less sophisticated tools is
their dependence on higher-order basis functions, as compared to the
linear functions typical of early tools. In this project Kitware will develop
general purpose algorithms to treat with higher-order basis functions.
Commercial adaptors to Kitware's open-source VTK, ITK and ParaView
products will be licensed to simulation vendors and sold to end-users as
commercial plug-ins.
Kitware, Inc. is a small, privately held company offering consulting, products,
and services in the areas of 3D graphics, visualization, image processing, and
volume rendering. Kitware provides support and training for the widely used
Visualization Toolkit system. Kitware is also developing other open source and
proprietary software including the National Library of Medicine Insight
Segmentation and Registration Toolkit. Kitware is located in the Tech Valley
region of New York State.
