This year, Kitware is excited to be included in the main program of the Thirty-Fourth Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI-20) taking place February 17-21, 2020 in New York. This prestigious, highly selective conference has been growing more than 25% per year due to its focus on fostering scientific exchange between researchers, practitioners, scientists, students, and engineers in artificial intelligence (AI) and its affiliated disciplines. As the premier international conference in general AI, AAAI has a very low acceptance rate of 20%, with a rigorous review and selection process that ensures all selected papers meet the highest academic research standards. Kitware will present at the conference on February 9, and will also be at the AAAI job fair on February 11 between 12:30 and 3 PM ET to discuss opportunities to join Kitware’s Computer Vision Team.
Kitware’s Senior R&D Engineer, Chengjiang Long, Ph.D., will present a paper: RIS-GAN: Explore Residual and Illumination with Generative Adversarial Networks for Shadow Removal. The paper was authored by Ling Zhang, Ph.D., Chengjiang Long, Ph.D., Xiaolong Zhang, Ph.D., and Chunxia Xiao, Ph.D. to explore cutting edge techniques that address the challenging problems with removing shadows in complex scenes. These shadows negatively impact the accuracy and effectiveness of many computer vision tasks and the need for more effective techniques to remove them or mitigate their impact has been increasing exponentially. Chengjiang will provide a detailed look at the research and extensive experiments, with results, that strongly confirm the advantages of incorporating residual and illumination foreshadow removal.
