Francois Budin

Francois Budin joined the Medical Computing team of Kitware in January 2016. François received his master’s in electronics, telecommunication, and computer science from École Supérieure de Chimie Physique Électronique de Lyon (CPE Lyon) in 2008. Prior to joining Kitware, from 2008 to 2009, François worked as a research assistant at the Computer-Assisted Surgery and Imaging Laboratory (CASILab) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), where he focused his research on vessel tortuosity in the human brain due to the presence of a tumor.

Then, from 2009 to 2015, he was a research associate at the Neuro-Image Research and Analysis Laboratories (NIRAL) at UNC. While working there, he designed and developed automatic pipelines to compute and process structural magnetic resonance images (MRI) and diffusion tensor images (DTI). He also participated in the development of many tools that are widely used in medical imaging research to process DTI.

While working at UNC, Francois authored and co-authored several publications including “Preventing facial recognition when rendering MR images of the head in three dimensions” and “Fully automated rodent brain MR image processing pipeline on a Midas server: from acquired images to region-based statistics.”
