John Tourtellott

John Tourtellott came to Kitware from Simmetrix, where he was a senior software engineer developing component software for simulation based design. His main research activities involved computational techniques for numerical simulation. This included discrete modeling methods; a new system for reducing quantization artifacts in surface tessellations of voxel datasets; extensions to a model attribution system; and a configurable system for writing mesh data in application-specific formats. Prior to Simmetrix, he worked for RayTech Systems, researching new methods for real-time particle graphics, ray tracing, and out-of-core flow visualization.

John has B.S. cum laude and M. Eng. degrees in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He joined Kitware in January 2011 as an R&D Engineer for the Computer Vision team.
