Event-Based Imaging
Event-based sensing (EBS) is an exciting new imaging modality that quickly provides sparse data indicating changes in the visual environment. The advantages of EBS include high dynamic range, low latency, and low-power operation enabled by sparse outputs. Kitware has leveraged these advantages to provide low-power detecting and tracking of unresolved objects in cluttered environments. We’ve developed a core ML-based capability in event-based centroiding and applied this capability to the detection and recognition of meteors and to event-based star tracking (reference image). We’ve also developed re-identification algorithms providing continuous ground moving target indication (GMTI) using data from satellite constellations with heterogeneous sensors, including EBS and traditional EO/IR imaging.
