Ian received his Bachelors in Architecture from Pratt Institute, and is the founder of the Capital​ ​District​ ​Linux​ ​Users​ ​Group​ ​(CDLUG). Prior to joining Kitware, Ian was a consultant for Logic​ ​Technology. There, he provided operational support for Linux based compute clusters.

Ian was also a Systems Administrator and IT Manager at Mosaic​ ​Associates​ ​Architects​, where he managed desktops, laptops, servers, VoIP systems, and anything else that plugged into a wall.
