The Cogswell Award is the most prestigious honor presented by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA)

Clifton Park, N.Y. (June 30, 2022) – Kitware is pleased to announce it is a recipient of the James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award. The Cogswell Award is the most prestigious honor the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) can present to organizations that hold a security clearance. Of the more than 13,000 cleared contractors in the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), less than 1% are selected to receive this annual award.

This award recognizes Kitware’s commitment to upholding the partnership between industry and government and ensuring the protection of classified information, materials, and programs. Kitware is proud of its ability to safely support the U.S. government and contribute to its defense efforts.

To qualify for the Cogswell Award, a facility must have achieved two consecutive superior ratings to be nominated. Once nominated, the facility enters an eight-month internal review process in which the DCSA national review team vets all nominations with 57 external agencies and makes recommendations.

“Kitware works hard to maintain an exemplary security program,” said Lisa Avila, CEO and co-founder of Kitware. “We are honored that our customers place their trust in us to work on projects critical to national security. Receiving this award demonstrates our commitment to protecting sensitive material to meet our customers’ needs.”
