KiwiViewer is an open source visualization application. The application explores scientific and medical datasets that run on Android and iOS mobile devices with multi-touch interaction. KiwiViewer supports a variety of file formats, including .obj, .stl, .ply, and .vtk. Datasets can be loaded into KiwiViewer from an SD card, from email attachments, or from DropBox. Alternatively, datasets can be downloaded from a URL.

KiwiViewer development was supported by Kitware, Inc., the National Alliance for Medical Image Computing (NA-MIC), and Willow Garage. The application is available in the Android Market but is no longer available in the Apple App Store. The mobile visualization functionality in KiwiViewer has been added to the Visualization Toolkit (VTK), and we are currently working on an application that will replace KiwiViewer.

While KiwiViewer is not currently under active development, we are committed to data visualization. We encourage you to try the functionality in the following open source software.

VTK has been providing advanced 3D graphics rendering, image processing, and visualization for over 20 years. The VTK repository contains sub-directories of Android and iOS examples.

We also encourage you to read the Kitware blog, which features news about the latest developments in visualization, tutorials, and more.
