Mary Elise holds a B.S. in Science Communication from Cornell University and an M.S. in Technical Communication from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. An active member of the Society for Technical Communication from 1995 until its closure in 2025, she held several leadership roles during that time and continues to engage with the technical communication community as a speaker and contributor. In 2026, she presented “Documentation Thinking Beyond the Docs” at Write the Docs Portland, exploring how documentation practices can strengthen high-stakes proposal and commercialization narratives.
