Scott Kangas is a Technical Leader working remotely on Kitware’s Computer Vision Team. He works in the areas of object detection, classification and tracking in Earth observation (EO) satellite imagery as well low Earth orbit (LEO) Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) imagery.

Prior to joining Kitware, Scott worked at Etegent Technologies as the group lead for the machine learning division. He focused on developing unsupervised learning techniques to train machine learning algorithms on satellite imagery when labels are limited. This work included object detection and classification.

Scott earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering at University of Cincinnati. He continued on as a Bearcat, earning his Masters and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering.
