Trevor Stout, Ph.D. is a senior R&D engineer on Kitware’s Computer Vision Team. He develops robust solutions for detection, classification, anomaly detection, and soundscape analysis in acoustic modalities, particularly in undersea environments. Trevor collaborates closely with Kitware’s computer vision researchers to adapt computer vision and AI techniques for acoustic data analysis, helping bridge the gap between these two domains.
Before joining Kitware, Trevor was a Senior Professional Staff II at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. He led analysis efforts for IARPA’s SMART program, developed physical and deep learning models for remote sensing and adversarial AI defense, and proposed and led R&D efforts in physics-based machine learning. He also served as an assistant supervisor for his group’s advanced algorithms section. Trevor previously held academic research roles at Penn State and Brigham Young University, where he focused on physical modeling of sonic boom propagation, acoustical signal processing, and high-performance computing.
Trevor holds a Ph.D. in acoustics from The Pennsylvania State University. He also earned both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in physics, with a minor in mathematics, from Brigham Young University.
