Aidan Sommer is an R&D engineer on Kitware’s software and data solutions team. He is currently enrolled in Kitware’s Open Source Software Technology Program (OSTP). Through the program, Aidan is gaining hands-on experience while working toward his master’s degree. He is learning to develop innovative open source software platforms.

Before joining Kitware, Aidan completed an internship with Siemens, where he worked on NX and Teamcenter applications using C++ and Java. There, he developed several features, including updating the NX login interface and dynamically adjusting components for a more cohesive look. Aidan also worked as an engineering application development intern at Kinetic Vision. In this role, he gained hands-on experience working with clients to address their challenges. One project involved serving as the lead developer for an autonomous lab testing robot.

Aidan earned a B.S. in computer science from the University of Cincinnati with a minor in mathematics.
