Aiden McCormack is an R&D engineer on Kitware’s Software Solutions Team. He is currently enrolled in Kitware’s Open Source Software Technology Program (OSTP), which allows him to gain hands-on experience while working toward his master’s degree. Aiden is learning to develop innovative open source software platforms in the areas of computer vision, scientific computing, data and analytics, medical computing, and software solutions.

Aiden received his bachelor’s degree in computer science, with a minor in music, from Georgetown University.

What made you want to become a Kitwarean?
I was initially interested in Kitware because of its commitment to open source software and the variety of interesting projects being developed here. But it was the welcoming and supportive community of software engineers of all backgrounds that made me compelled to stay.

Share something interesting about yourself that is not on your resume.
In addition to software engineering, I am a musician and a music lover. I play a number of instruments, including bass guitar, ukulele, and saxophone. I also produce my own tracks in Logic Pro and was a member of an acapella group in college. I even use my programming knowledge to experiment with projects that combine my passions for computer science and music in interesting ways, most notably in a program I wrote that procedurally generates musical compositions.
