Austin Foster is an R&D engineer on Kitware’s Vision team based in KRS.

Before joining Kitware, Austin worked as a junior software engineer at Applied Research Associates, where he developed large-scale Windows desktop applications using C++, CMake, and Qt. He collaborated with engineers to model and simulate real-world defense scenarios using spatial 3D rendering techniques. His work also included validating and verifying software for release, maintaining compliance within an evolving CI/CD pipeline, and planning and implementing system architecture changes.

Previously, Austin served as a web development teaching assistant at Brigham Young University, where he mentored students building websites with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React. He also guided students through AWS server setup and helped them learn Node.js and MongoDB while supporting the department’s transition from Vue.js to React.

Austin earned a B.S. in computer science from Brigham Young University. During his studies, he completed projects in computer graphics, game development, artificial intelligence, and software development. His work included C++, Rust, Unreal Engine, Android development, and computer vision.
