Welcome to Kitware!

We are so excited that you’re joining the team. Below, you will find next steps to anticipate in our onboarding process. 

  1. Once you receive your offer confirmation letter, please reach out to hr@kitware.com with the information requested below:
    1. Your signed offer confirmation letter
    2. Your Kitware email address. We typically follow the firstname.lastname@kitware.com format. 
    3. Your t-shirt size. We’ll have a few welcome gifts for you on your first day, including a Kitware t-shirt.
  1. Complete the background check application you will receive from CIChecked.com. You will receive an email from HR at Kitware letting you know that the background check invitation will be emailed to you shortly. 
  1. Complete the Conflict of Interest Form within one month, but no later than one week before your start date. The link to this form can be found in the Welcome to Kitware email you received with the offer confirmation letter. 
  1. You can review the Kitware policies and documents included in your Welcome email. You will have the opportunity to review these policies as part of your onboarding training, so it’s okay if you do not read through this material prior to your first day.

  1. A team member from Kitware’s IT group will contact you to discuss your options to choose equipment (laptops, monitors, etc). Each employee at Kitware is set up with a hardware budget, $3,000 for technical team employees and $1,500 for support team employees. The cost of your equipment will be paid for using the hardware budget. Funds are added to your hardware budget on a monthly basis. 
  1. You will receive an email from Kitware’s Marketing team to request information we can use to create your employee bio for our external-facing Kitware website.

What to Expect:

Dress Code: There is no formal dress code at Kitware. Most employees opt for more casual or business casual attire (jeans, polo, sweater, dress pants, button-up, etc.).

Lunch: Lunch with your manager and mentors is typically provided on your first day. If this is not possible due to scheduling conflicts, HR will let you know so that you can make other arrangements for your lunch that day.

Mentors: You will be assigned two mentors. A team mentor who can assist you with technical questions and a culture mentor who will help you settle in, field questions, and introduce you to fellow Kitwareans.

What to Bring: 

  1. Please review the List of Acceptable Documents for the Form I-9 and be prepared with either 1 item from column A, or 1 item from column B and 1 item from column C on your first day.  
  2. Voided bank check or bank letter. This can be a direct deposit form from your bank’s website that includes your bank account and routing number, as well as your full name. 

Arriving/Parking: 

Parking at Kitware’s Clifton Park Office: There are ample parking spaces in our parking lot. Click HERE for Kitware’s address, details about parking, and finding the entrance to Kitware. Please use the front entrance and press the Ring button on the outside of the elevator. 

Parking at Kitware’s Carrboro Office: You can park in the lot next to the Weaver Street Market to begin. You will see signs about towing, but it is okay for new employees to park here on your first day. We have a designated employee parking lot, but it can be tough to find/navigate on day 1. Click HERE for Kitware’s address, details about parking, and finding the “green awning” for the entrance to Kitware. This main door on the ground level is open. After taking the elevator or taking the stairs to the 3rd floor, you’ll ring the bell. 

Parking at Kitware’s  Minneapolis Office: There are a few parking options you can choose from if you drive to the office. 

  1. The Mozaic contract garage is under the building where Kitware’s office is. Click here for parking rates. There is also a “pay daily” garage in the adjacent building. 
  2. There’s usually free street parking in the neighborhood across the greenway from the building. 
  3. There are also paid street parking spots right in front of the building.

Typical Schedule:

9:00 am – 10:30 am: Orientation with HR to cover company overview, time charging, discuss new hire trainings, and complete new hire paperwork.

After 10:30 am – Return to your desk. You may have meetings with your manager and mentors throughout the day. In between meetings, take the opportunity to complete required trainings in our training system called KIP (Kitware Information Platform).

Time can be charged for this welcome lunch! Keep your timer running as lunch out is part of your onboarding experience. 

After lunch, you may have training or meetings with your mentor. If you do not have any meetings, please continue to work on the training in KIP, read through your Gmail inbox and any other materials your manager or mentor may have shared for your review. 

Anytime after 4 pm: Wrap up the day and log your timer, you did it! 🎉

How feasible is it to bike/walk to the offices? 

At our Clifton Park office, parking is very accessible to the building and there are ample parking spaces. The general area surrounding the Kitware office is not as easy to navigate by foot or bike as some of our other office locations. If you like to bike to work, you’ll find bike paths below for three of our office locations.
