Tyler Lane

Tyler Lane is an R&D engineer on Kitware’s software and data solutions team. In this role, they contribute to the design, development, and deployment of scalable software solutions, drawing on their experience in full-stack development, software architecture, infrastructure engineering, and technical leadership. Their work focuses on building reliable, maintainable systems that support complex research, development, and production environments.

Before joining Kitware, Tyler worked as an independent software engineer, designing and deploying web applications using open source technologies and self-managed Linux infrastructure. Prior to that, they served as co-founder, CTO, and lead software engineer at Robotics 88, where they built and led a distributed engineering team developing secure real-time communication software for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems. They co-authored grants totaling more than $1 million in SBIR funding and collaborated with Carnegie Mellon University on a 3D forest mapping project.

Tyler previously worked as a lead instructor at General Assembly, teaching full-stack software development and data science concepts. Earlier in their career, they held software engineering positions at Out of Bounds Comedy Festival, Eureka Software, and Accruent.

Tyler earned a Bachelor of Arts in computer science from Eckerd College and completed minors in philosophy and theater.
