Board of Directors Updates at Kitware

Company welcomes a new internal board member and renews two terms

Clifton Park, N.Y. (January 10, 2024) – Kitware, a leader in developing custom software solutions using open source technology and advanced AI, is pleased to announce the appointment of a new independent member to its board of directors. Kitware has appointed Rich Mahoney, Ph.D. for a three year term to replace outgoing member Jennifer Ricklin, Ph.D. Rich currently serves as Vice President of Research at Intuitive. The board also renewed terms for two existing members.

“We are grateful for Jennifer’s service on our board and look forward to welcoming Rich,” said Bill Hoffman, Kitware founder, CTO and Chairman of the Board. “His perspectives and business insights will be valuable to Kitware’s strategic growth in the coming years.”

After an extensive search process, Kitware selected Rich to join its board of directors. As the vice president of research at Intuitive, he leads technology research and translation efforts for future solutions. Rich brings a strong technical background and experience growing businesses to Kitware. He was the CEO and founder of Seismic, a spin-off venture from SRI International, and the founding president of Silicon Valley Robotics. Previous to Seismic, Rich was the Executive Director of Robotics at SRI International, growing the program to serve DARPA and a broad base of both government and commercial customers across a variety of fields. In addition to Seismic, his group’s work led to several other new companies including Verb Surgical, Grabit, Redwood Robotics, and Abundant Robotics. Rich earned his Ph.D. in engineering at the University of Cambridge in England, where he attended on a Fulbright Scholarship. He received his B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering from Drexel University in Pennsylvania.

Kitware is also extending terms for two existing board members, Berk Geveci, Ph.D. and Bill Hoffman. Berk has served on Kitware’s board since 2022. As Kitware’s senior director of scientific computing, the board will continue to benefit from his valuable technical insight.

Bill Hoffman was one of the original founders of Kitware and has been a long-time member of Kitware’s board. He currently serves as chairman and is the company’s vice president and chief technical officer. He also continues to code as the lead developer for CMake, the popular software build system. Kitware is pleased to have his continued leadership and involvement on the board.
