Clinically Driven Applications

Medical Imaging

Kitware develops clinically-driven applications for the medical imaging field. By focusing on the needs of the end-users in the medical community, we are creating solutions that impact both practitioners and patients alike. One of the applications Kitware is collaboratively developing is Slicer, a community platform for subject-specific image analysis and visualization. Slicer enables multi-modality, multi-organ imaging, and it is able to be interfaced with multiple toolkits. The robust, cross-platform functionality of Slicer makes it one of the leading open-source tools for medical imaging.

Additionally, we are developing the Common Toolkit (CTK), which is a community effort to provide support code for medical image analysis, surgical navigation, and other related projects. This unified set of basic programming constructs is useful in developing a variety of medical imaging applications and readily facilitates the exchange and combination of code and data. CTK is already internally used by major medical application frameworks such as Slicer, MITK, MAF, and GIMIAS.
